Man Overboard

In Febuary of last year, we lost not only a designer, but an artist. Alexander McQueen has been in the industry for 24 of his short 40 year life. His shows are known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections.

McQueen was best known, and will be remembered best for his ecclectic and innovative style and deisngn. He used lots of tartan and metal and tuelle, and all those other wonderful materials.

The magnificent emprire that he single handedly created still lives on, with his crew of equally talented designers carrying on the name.

These have to be my favourite piece McQueen ever created. I dare you not to do a double-take. These are not the ballerina point shoes you wore in dance class, but a mesmerizing couture creation made up of all the right stuff. With a muted pink leather platform in the front, McQueen’s prized pumps are made complete in the back by a heel that is masterfully constructed out of what appears to be a robot’s spare parts.Alexander McQueen's Titanic Ballerina Pumps are truly a work of art.

What are your thoughs?

Rest in peace Mr McQueen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
