Kate's Closet

It was something like 2 billion viewers watching last night, can you believe that? Incredible. But, do I blame them? No way, I can see exactly why. I personally believe that the brown haired beauty in the McQueen had a little to do with it.

I LOVE that she chose gorgeous Sarah Burton for McQueen to design. Having literally the whole fashion world of designers at her finger tips, it was lovely to see that she stayed true to her British colours. Oh, and I suppose McQueen isn't too shabby, having been voted British designer of the year four times in a row!
Through out the engagement, Kate's dress was the best kept secret since, well, Elton John's marriage to a girl! But the cat was let out of the bag on Thursday evening, London time, when Sarah Burton was seen getting out of a car outside the the Goring Hotel in her signature double-looped belt and pumps.
This absolute one-of-a-kind original piece is somewhat inspired by Grace Kelly at her also very infamous Royal Wedding a little while ago. But this intricate design was created for the princess-to-be in silk gazar. The Royal School of Needlework were responsible for the hand crafted intricate lace bodice and sleeves, as well as the veil.
I absolutely love the McQueen signiture corseting and long sleeves. Some people said that is wasn't 'interesting' enough, but I just think that they don't quite know what they are talking about. The sleeves did it for me, especially in the lace. And the divine detailing at the back that we all saw when she walked inside after the picture-esq balcony kiss.
Her tiara, has also been subject to much speculation. It is a Cartier 'Halo' tiara, given to her by the Queen herself. Her diamond oak-leaf earrings are by Robinson Pelham and were a gift from her parents.
Oh no it couldn't possibly stop there! After a much needed rest, the bride slipped into something more comfortable. Once you find something that works..go with it. Therefore it was no surprise that Kate decided to go with McQueen again for her party dress. This strapless white satin gown with a circular skirt was very similar to her much adored wedding gown. This beauty was complimented perfectly with a dimante waste band and an angora bolero cardigan.

Love, love, love both of these pictures. So classic, elegant and beautiful. What a gorgeous day these two shared. I must say, a tear crept down my face as she got out of her Rolls Royce Phantom.
What were your thoughts?

Just dropping by..

Much to my dismay, school returned today. I didn't want my increase in learning to stop me from posting, but, homework has a very sneaky way of creeping up on me.
I have a great idea for a post which I will put up just as soon as I can, but today, I just wanted to stop in and say hello.
Today is Wednesday, which is nice, because I only have two more days until again, I am free.
When I can't say all that I want to, I figure I will just leave you with a picture. I found this in Vogue a little while ago. It is quite interesting isn't it? Let me know what you think.

For now, happy Wednesday (in the words of Mumma in Heels)

Before Bed..

Yesterday, I filled you all in on my beauty regime for my face. But today, I thought I would talk about two products that I have used everyday, without fail, before bed. Yes I know it sounds a little crazy applying beauty products before bed, but I have to say, this really makes a different.

Gal Collection Vaseline in Violet flavour. I love this stuff, and have been using it religiously for about three years. I often had trouble with chapped lips, so I started applying a little of this everynight before bed, and it has REALLY made a difference! I absolutely adore this flavour, and will never convert, although there is a flavour for everyone. Give this lip balm a try. Apply a little everynight before bed and just watch for results!

This can be purchased in the lip balm section of David Jones for $9.

Okay, I have a really weird fear in life. Not of spiders, or snakes or bugs (though i do hate those things). No, my fear is very strange. I really hate feet. So you can imagine that when I became aware that my feet were becoming dry and callused, I really freaked. I went into the bodyshop, and immediately I found something that I fell in love with. Hemp Foot Cream. I apply a little to my feet everynight before I go to sleep, and I wake up seeing results. My feet are no longer dry or gross. And, the cream has got that gorgeous mint smell.

This can be purchased from The Body Shop for about $30 a jar.

So today I thought I would fill you in on a few of my beauty secrets. We really cannot forget to take care of out lips and feet!

P.S I have gone with a new font for this post, let me know what you think! xxxxxxxxx

Completing the Look

Although I traditionally like to blog specifically about Fashion, and all that goes along with it. But today, on Easter Sunday, when my face is breaking out because of all the chocolate, I thought I would take some time out to show you some of the products that make my skin look a little better!

I start my daily routine with a couple of dabs of Clinique concealer. I honestly cannot live without it! It comes in colours to suit every skin colour, and it so easy to apply. Not only does this baby cover up all those blemishes, it also clears up acne in doing so.
I purchased this in the States for about $14, which is crazy cheap. It will be a little more expensive here in Australia, but, it has lasted me months, so it was definitely be money well spent.

Here is a link for somewhere you can purcahse it:
http://au.strawberrynet.com/makeup/clinique/anti-blemish-solutions-clearing/93063/#DETAIL

I guess this is also a good time to mention, the above website it just great! Discount prices for all our fave products!

Next, I apply some of this stuff! I got onto it last year, and honestly have not put it down since. It rocks. The colour that I use it called 'Laguna', which is super popular, but it also comes in colours to suit your skin tone. Nars make gorgeous bronzers, so you always know you are going to look great. Just a tiny bit will go far aswell as the colour is so rich.
Again, I bought this for $34 in the States, in Australia, it is ridiclously overpriced. So I reccomend buying in bulk when you are over there, or doing some research and finding a good website. If you can't find anything, there is always:
http://www.meccacosmetica.com.au/shop/Nars/BronzingPowder/  ($72 is ridiculous, but this product is worth it!)
Next, I put on a little of this. It's called 'Benefit Eyeshadow'. The particular colour I like is called 'TattleTale'. Other great colours include 'Birthday Suit' and 'Coral'. It is a shimmery mousse that is incredibly easy to apply, and looks great.

This creaseless cream eyeshadow comes in so many different colours, so you are bound to find the one for you. Again, I got this in the States, but you can buy it in select stores in Australia, and on some different websites. You just have to do a little research!

So I have done something a little different in this post, let me know if you like any of my suggestions, and I will keep them coming. Happy shopping! xxxxxxxxxx

Man Overboard

In Febuary of last year, we lost not only a designer, but an artist. Alexander McQueen has been in the industry for 24 of his short 40 year life. His shows are known for their emotional power and raw energy, as well as the romantic but determinedly contemporary nature of the collections.

McQueen was best known, and will be remembered best for his ecclectic and innovative style and deisngn. He used lots of tartan and metal and tuelle, and all those other wonderful materials.

The magnificent emprire that he single handedly created still lives on, with his crew of equally talented designers carrying on the name.

These have to be my favourite piece McQueen ever created. I dare you not to do a double-take. These are not the ballerina point shoes you wore in dance class, but a mesmerizing couture creation made up of all the right stuff. With a muted pink leather platform in the front, McQueen’s prized pumps are made complete in the back by a heel that is masterfully constructed out of what appears to be a robot’s spare parts.Alexander McQueen's Titanic Ballerina Pumps are truly a work of art.

What are your thoughs?

Rest in peace Mr McQueen xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What a Girl Wants

My mum always gets quite mad at me about this. You would think that it would be better than talking about other boring things, but it seems that my mum has just about had enough of me talking about all of the things that I want, but can't have. I am so extremely lucky to get everything that I do, and sometimes I forget that talking about myself and my wants, or 'needs', can get a little tiring. So..I decided to tell you guys!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE looking at clothes online, in fact, I probably spend a little too much time doing it. Most people in my classes at school would know that, when I should be listening, I am actually looking up Shopbop's 20% sale and free shipping dates. Or that Tucker Silk shirt on Revovle Clothing that has my name, and a hefty price tag, written ALL over it.
So, here are a few of the things that I am REALLY loving at the moment, and attached will be websites to all these places, in case any of you see something to-die-for!
Number 1: Black Hunter Gumboots

Most people wouldn't understand the need for designer gumboots when I live in Australia, but these babies are an absolute MUST HAVE! And hey, Melbourne's weather is so unexpected that you can pair them when a caft-tan on those awful humid, rainy days, and be comfortable and super stylish!

There are SO many websites that you can buy these off in Australia, including my fave, www.shopbop.com as well as http://www.bstore.com.au and www.wellies.co.nz. Let me know if you are interested in International websites as well!

Number 2:  Free People Dress

I found this one during an International Relations class a couple of months back, and still haven't bought it! I am sure you can all imagine that I am dying! I love it. It isn't even summer here anymore, but can't you just picture this little sundress with some cute sandals? Oh, I just adore it!

You can purchase this puppy on one of two different websites everyone! www.shopbop.com (my life), or, www.freepeople.com

Number 3: Indigo Latte Knit

I absolutely adore this Latte coloured knitted sweater from Indigo. It is light, flowy, and perfect to wear with a cami, jeans and cute ankle boots, OR, a fitted dress and heels! This is an absolute must have for me over winter!

Unfortunately, you can only purchase this baby in store:

It's not second hand...It's vintage!

Today myself and lovely Lexie hit the streets of Melbourne for a much needed shopping spree. Like most girls in Victoria, we went straight to the hustle and bustle of Chapel Street. Now the point of this post is not to give you a detailed description of everything I bought...because I didn't buy anything (I know, I was disappointed to!). No, the point of this post is to introduce to you a store that you are actually going to fall in love with. Now, I don't usually like vintage things, I think it is a little to, dare I say it, wanky. Well, on me at least. BUT, I have found the most to-die-for and quaint store hidden away just near the corner or Chapel and Dandenong rd. Yes....Evenlyn and Dorothy's boutique is just wonderful! I know this end of town is a little dindgy, but I have to say, there is absolutely nothing dingdy about this store. Cute sun dresses in the most eclectic prints and patterns. Hand made jewels, and even dainty pieces for children.
Please, please, please give this place a visit, you will absolutely LOVE it!

The end of an era

It was a sad day when it was announced that our beloved Elizabeth Taylor had bid us all farewell. A movie star, a model, an icon, and an absolute legend in the fashion world, the death of this woman had left me utterly empty. There had always been something 'Audrey Hepburn-esq' about her. Those gorgeous, black tufts of hair, or those incredibly defined eyebrows.
So on this regular day in 2011, we lost someone great. She will forever be remembered as the funny, cheeky and versatile actress, who stole our hearts every time.

Rest in peace Elizabeth, you will never be forgotten.

Goodbye..for now,

My home away from home

What is it that I love about the city? It's not the smell of the street vendors, or the big lights, or even the park...it's more than that. It's the sheer confidence of those who live within.
They have a certain edge to their fashion sense, not that kind of North Fitzroy 'I am so much better than all of you..so I am going to wear my jeans too tight and the biggest combat boots I can find.' No, it's not like that at all, it's that kind of 'I can wear whatever I want, whenever I want because I know people won't judge' kind of attitude. That kind of atmosphere where it is socially acceptable to wear a Burberry printed hat, or Hunter gumboots when it's not snowing, or Ralph Lauren bathers with horses all over them.
I absolutely love it, and can't wait to venture back there sometime soon. After all..it is the only place where I can wear a full length fur without looking like an utter nutcase.

Goodbye...for now,

I love the brand 'Free People.'

What I am loving at the moment

Like I said earlier, completely computer illiterate, so I wish I could make this image bigger, without going foggy, but, I can't. Anyways, do you love it? I have been looking for a cut out shirt for a while now, and I have found it! It's ASOS, a UK website with cute basics for a gal on a budget! Only $30 with free shipping. Well..I think it's an absolute steal.

Goodbye for now...and happy shopping!

Computers can do wonderful things

I just adore the images that I find on the Frankie Magazine website. Absolutely every International Studies lesson, much to my teachers dismay, I rumage through the 245 pages of wonderful images, hoping to find something I love...and every time I do! I find mostly desktop backgrounds. Those who know me well would know that I love having interesting desktop backgrounds on my computer, and am constantly changing it...to keep things interesting. Well, the point of this paragraph of drivel, is to say that this was my first ever background on my new computer..how cute. Maybe that will become a little trend on this blog, every so often I will post on my current desktop backgrounds. How fun.

Goodbye...for now,

I die when I see it..

I don't really know why, but every time I see this photo, I immediately want to sketch it. And I do..every time. Of course I can never to it to the justice that it so rightly deserves, but a girl can try.
Christian Dior...go figure.

A few of my favourite things

Does your heart not melt to butter when you see such a thing? Oscar De La Renta is my ALL time favourite designer. Maybe it's the one million layers of tuelle, or the jewel encrusted bodest. But either way, I am in love. Yes it is a little strange that I, a 15 year old, would actually even consider looking at wedding dresses, but you would have to agree with me that there is something quite magnificent about them.  How wonderful it would be if I could one day wear such a thing. Hmmm...well..a girl can dream.

Goodbye...for now,

Getting the hang of things..

I wish I was more talented with computers...my friend Rosie calls me 'computer illiterate,' and I don't really blame her. I even had to look up how to post a picture on this thing. For those of you who are intersted, I now know how.

This picture is currently my desktop background on my computer at school. I don't really know why. I guess I think it is a little more fun to look at something interesting like this, with lots of unanswered questions, instead of a 'Windows 7' colourful logo. Others might beg to differ though.
Eventually I will load up some pictures of important things, that mean something, such as: trends i am liking at the moment, or music, or magazines, or anything intersting. Oh, for those of you who don't already know, this is going to eventually become a fashion blog. Eventually.

Goodbye...for now

Welcome

How I wish I could whip up one of those wonderful blog sites that just make you go 'Wow'. But unfortunately, much to my own dismay, I do not have the time, nor the creatavity at the moment! However, have no fear, someting wonderful will be coming your way very soon. I have big ideas, and even bigger dreams that will definitely come into play sooner rather than later.

Goodbye...for now,
